Frequency is the decision that most affects both your budget and how your home actually feels day to day. Here's a direct comparison to help you land on the right one.
Quick comparison
| Weekly | Bi-Weekly | Monthly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per-visit cost | Lowest | Moderate | Highest |
| Total monthly cost | Highest | Moderate | Lowest |
| Home baseline between visits | Consistently high | Solid, some drift | Noticeable drift by week 3–4 |
| Best for | Busy households, pets, kids | Most 2–4 person households | Light-use homes, supplementing own cleaning |
Weekly cleaning: who it's actually for
Weekly makes the most sense when the home generates mess faster than a household can (or wants to) manage — active kids, shedding pets, frequent entertaining, or simply a preference for never letting things build up at all. It's also the best fit for households where multiple people are home during the day, since more daily use means faster buildup.
Bi-weekly cleaning: the default for most households
This is where most of our recurring clients land. It's frequent enough that the home never falls too far behind, but spaced out enough to be meaningfully cheaper than weekly over a month. If you're unsure where to start, bi-weekly is the reasonable default — you can always adjust after seeing how the home holds up.
Monthly cleaning: best as a supplement, not a replacement
Monthly works well specifically for households that keep up with day-to-day tidiness themselves and want a professional-level reset once a month, rather than relying on the service to maintain the home entirely. It's a poor fit if you're hoping monthly visits will substitute for regular upkeep in between — a full month is a long time for kitchens and bathrooms to go without professional attention.
What actually determines the right choice
- How many people and pets use the home day to day
- Whether you're doing any cleaning yourself between visits (and want to)
- Your budget, both per visit and monthly total
- How much you personally notice and care about day-to-day mess buildup
Changing your mind later
None of these choices are permanent. Most services, ours included, allow frequency changes at any time — start with your best estimate, see how the first month feels, and adjust from there without any penalty.
